Seven other International Presidents have been Canadian. The first International President elected from outside the two founding nations of the US and Canada was Ian Perdriau AM, a member of the Kiwanis Club of Melbourne, Australia, who served in 1994-95.

THIS WEEK:  HAPPY NEW YEAR!  This is the greeting I got from Governor Russ Kercher this morning at our monthly conference call with all of the Lt. Governors.  Just a reminder that we are beginning a new year in Kiwanis Service.  What better way to begin a new year than with service to the children of our community.  That’s why we work so hard each year raising money at the Pepper Festival – so that we can serve the children of our community in countless ways.

Our meeting was again geared to working on Pepper Festival final plans.  If you haven’t marked your calendar for this very important event in Kiwanis, please do so immediately.  We will need everyone’s assistance in order to make this festival the success it can be.

Please make every effort to attend our social this Sunday at Ben and Jean Potier’s house.  There will be good food, good fun and good friends in attendance.  Have you gotten your silent auction basket ready for the event?  This is a special time when we recognize the people who have worked so hard in making our club successful and we want to thank them for their leadership this year.  If you have not responded, please call either way (394-9396) so that we can know how much food to prepare for the party.  Bring your ice chest and your bag chairs for the event.  And also bring guests and prospective members.

Next week, President Dennis LeBlanc will conduct his first meeting.  Come to the meeting and hear what plans Dennis has for this year in Kiwanis.
