THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

There is a difference between the person
who does no misdeeds because of his own conscience
and the person who is kept from wrongdoing because of the presence of others.
                                                          –The Talmud

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis: To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.

Kiwanis Education #51 :   Perfect attendance is defined as an earned attendance credit for each week during a period of 12 consecutive months. Credits can be earned by attending your regular club meeting or the meeting of another Kiwanis club, participating in a club project, attending a regular meeting of your club’s board of directors, attending a Circle K, Key Club, or Builders Club, K-Kids, or Aktion Club meeting, and other ways. Credits for non-meeting activities, such as projects, usually are limited to one credit per month for each type of activity. The club secretary’s guidebook has a complete set of Official Attendance Rules.

THIS WEEK:

• My sincere apologies to Elaine St. Julien who was duly elected to the Board of Directors but whose name I inadvertently omitted in the bulletin last week.  I am so sorry, Elaine!

• Our guest speakers this week were two women from Hospice of Acadiana who gave us some valuable information on Hospice and all the services it provides, not limited to care for the terminally ill.  One of their kid-oriented programs involves a camp for kids who have lost loved ones whereby they are given tools to work through their grief.  Very interesting program.

• Next Wednesday is our monthly board meeting at 6:00 p.m.  Some of us have taken the habit of going to La Maison Restaurant following the meeting for Italian night.  Hope you consider joining us!

• Summer is here and it’s a great thing for more than one reason.  We get to see a lot more of Charlar Brew during the summer meetings because of her schedule.  Bike Safety Workshop is conducted whereby instructing our kids on how to be safe on their bikes as they enjoy the summer.  And probably some of the kids who were instructed at Every Child A Swimmer are now in the process of summer swimming lessons at the City Pool.  I know that our attendance at meetings will fluctuate with people going on vacation, but hopefully we’ll see everyone once in a while.

• Speaking of Every Child A Swimmer, please check out this week’s Teche News with great picture of kids and Larry Roy at the project.

Remember: We have a lot of fish to fry... in Kiwanis!
