THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
God wisely designed the human body
so that we can neither pat our own backs
           nor kick ourselves too easily.

The Second Object of Kiwanis:   To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.

Kiwanis Education #41:  There are four categories of membership in a Kiwanis club: active, privileged, senior, and honorary. All members enter Kiwanis as active members. The privileged class of membership was closed in 1963, and this class will cease to exist when the last privileged member leaves his club.

THIS WEEK:
In the absence of your three editors, President Dennis took notes.  Thanks, Dennis!

A moment of silence was held at the beginning of the meeting for Peggy Hardy’s sister, who passed away Tuesday.

Ben led in the prayer, Jean was the greeter. Jim won the lottery but was unable to pick the red bead.

Larry reported on the highway cleanup and asked for volunteers. Dwayne Jones with the Boy Scouts gave Larry the name of the scout master in New Iberia and told him that the scouts could use Highway Cleanup as a project for a merit badge.

President Dennis announced the request from Robin Abshire to fill in a board vacancy on the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals.  It was recommended that we invite her to be a guest speaker.

Guest speakers were Scott Fischer, the new Sr. District Executive (who will be handling the Cub Scout troop in  St. Martinville since we do not have Boy Scout troop) and Dwayne Jones who has been promoted to District Coordinator. They spoke about scouting and the different camps in the area run by the Boy Scouts. Dwayne also showed a breakdown on how collected money is spent and where collected. We also learned that these camps are available for use by the public.

We also learned that the Boy Scouts have a rock climbing wall. Steve recommended that they bring the wall to the Pepper Festival and use it to promote scouting. They may be able to get a troop started here.

Guest speaker next week will be Yvette Davis of the Cyber Surgery Center.

Marti Harrell’s sister is very, very ill.  Please keep Marti’s family and Peggy Hardy’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
