THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

God wisely designed the human body
so that we can neither pat our own backs
        nor kick ourselves too easily.
                              —Anonymous

The Second Object of Kiwanis:   To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.

Kiwanis Education #41:  There are four categories of membership in a Kiwanis club: active, privileged, senior, and honorary. All members enter Kiwanis as active members. The privileged class of membership was closed in 1963, and this class will cease to exist when the last privileged member leaves his club.

THIS WEEK:
Greetings from your Kiwanis editorial staff!  We hope you are enjoying your bulletin each week.  Actually, we hope you’re reading your bulletin each week.  And if you are reading it and have constructive criticism, please feel free to share with us.

Our guest speaker on cyberknife was a no-show this week but Kiwanian Paul deMahy was willing to share information about court in general and the renovations in particular, thanks to a question from Larry Roy.  Larry’s question was – what was all the crowd about at the Parish Government office on Tuesday?  And Paul responded that due to lack of sufficient courtroom space, he moved his misdemeanor arraignments over there.  This led to explanations of how much more courtroom and waiting space will be available when the renovations to the courthouse are completed.

Gerry reported on the solar sun rings that we obtained free of charge from the company (paying only shipping costs) and had a sample to show members at the meeting.

President Dennis announced that election of officers is right around the corner and with that in mind, he named the officers and board as nominating committee for the purpose of contacting members to see if they would be willing to serve in some leadership capacity.  So, ladies and gentlemen, please be receptive if someone contacts you about serving next year on the board.

SMSH Key Club officers and  Acadiana Home School Key Club officers will be attending the new officer training this weekend in Baton Rouge.  At this time we would like to extend our appreciation to Advisors Kevin Dugas and Donna Neumann Andrepont for their service to Kiwanis and Key Club. Donna is going to Baton Rouge this weekend with both sets of officers.  Thanks, Donna!

** Larry Roy has set the date for Highway Cleanup and will be asking for volunteers for this worthwhile semi-annual project.  If you can’t make the meeting but would like to work on this project, please let Larry know because he needs a head count for the pancake breakfast.  This project is a wonderful opportunity for us to work together as a Kiwanis family since Key Club and Builders Club members participate as well as Kiwanians.
