THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

The most important human endeavor is striving for morality in our actions.
Morality is what gives beauty and dignity to life.
Following our animal instincts is not enough.
Without high standards of right and wrong, men cannot live together in peace and friendship.
                                            — Albert Einstein

The Third Object of Kiwanis:  To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.

Kiwanis Education #54 : An inter-club meeting is one which is jointly planned and held by two or more Kiwanis clubs, or by a Kiwanis club and any Kiwanis Junior, Circle K club, Key Club, Builders Club, K-Kids, and/or Aktion Club and duly announced as such in advance through club notices. No less than a visiting group of four, composed of Kiwanians or a minimum of two Kiwanians plus members of a Circle K club, Key Club, and/or Builders Club sponsored by the visiting Kiwanis club, must be in attendance. To qualify for inter- club credit, the meeting must be an official meeting of the host club. Conventions, division council meetings, and similar events do not normally qualify.

THIS WEEK

First of all, let me say how sorry I am that you did not receive bulletins for the past two weeks.  What can I say – Intl. Convention one week and 4th of July the next.  Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and taking a little time for R & R.  Relaxation and Rodaying (spelled phonetically) which means going out and about.

Our Kiwanis club has been going with the flow of summer but things will change right quick.  Our first order of business is a Pepper Festival Committee meeting on July 23 at the home of Dennis and Gerry LeBlanc beginning at 6:00 p.m.  We will feed you supper.  Please make every effort to attend.  Call 394-9396 for directions.

The next thing lined up is our Social/MEMBERSHIP RECRUITMENT Bar-B-Que at Ricky and Leslie Thibodeaux’s house on Sunday, July 26.  The menu includes chicken, potato salad, green salad, baked beans, bread and desserts.  If you would like to volunteer to help with the meal or need directions, please call Leslie at 364-6793.  We are asking the phone committee to call for a headcount.  Please make every effort to attend and bring prospective members to this fun-filled event.  In case you’re interested, they do have a swimming pool.  You are requested to bring your own adult beverages. If possible, we’d like to induct our two newest members into the club, Ms. Cyndi DeCarlo and Ms. Suzanne deMahy, at the social recruitment party.

Mike Fuselier was our guest speaker this week, compliments of Dan Berard.  Mike spoke to us concerning his involvement with the Juvenile Facility School program.  Very interesting topic.

Next week, Suzanne deMahy will be our speaker and her topic will be “The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training Program”.  Please make every effort to attend the next meeting.  Make it a habit!

The District Convention for Louisiana Mississippi West Tennessee will be held in New Orleans on July 31, Aug. 1 & 2.  Our club has reserved two rooms at the conference hotel.  Registrations are due today, July 10.  If you would like to attend, please go to the district website and register as soon as possible.  The club will only pay for earlybird registration if you attend.
