THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

Service is the rent we pay
for the privilege of living on this earth.
                              – Shirley Chisholm, Marion Wright Edelman, Mohammed Ali. (Take your pick)

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis:  To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Kiwanis Education #58 : The organization date, when a new club meets officially to elect officers and adopt its bylaws, is the official birth date of a Kiwanis club and is celebrated as the anniversary in future years. The charter presentation is conducted a few weeks later, allowing adequate time to plan the event. All members elected before the charter date are considered charter members.

THIS WEEK

A great big thank you goes out to our BBQ hosts – Ricky and Leslie Thibodeaux. Those of us in attendance had a great time, the weather cooperated and we enjoyed a great time and wonderful food.

Congratulations to our newest inductee – Suzanne deMahy was inducted into our club at the BBQ on Sunday.

Last week we had a Pepper Festival meeting at the home of Gerry and Dennis LeBlanc and it was well attended (thank you, everyone).  We are asking for a volunteer to chair the craft booths.  If you would be willing to chair this particular section of the Festival, please call or email Gerry at 380-4300 or gerryleblanc5@aol.com  I will give you a more complete report on the festival meeting at a later date.

Kudos to Annie Durand for attending the officer training session in Lafayette last Saturday.  It is always important for us to keep abreast of the changes and innovations brought to us by Kiwanis.

Past Lt. Governor Carol Lagarde, President Dennis LeBlanc and Lt. Governor Gerry LeBlanc will be attending the District Convention in New Orleans this weekend.  The convention service project involves bringing school supplies for the poorer school districts of  New Orleans.  Thanks to those members who contributed monies for us to purchase supplies to bring to N.O.   We are also contributing a themed basket to raffle at the convention to raise money for our District Foundation.

Leslie Thibodeaux is in charge of speakers for August.  If you have a guest speaker in mind, please call Leslie and let her know.

THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO FOR KIWANIS!!!!!!
