THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

Success without honor is an unseasoned dish;
           it will satisfy your hunger,
              but it won’t taste good.
                           – Joe Paterno

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis:  To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Kiwanis Education #32:   Iceland has the highest per capita Kiwanis membership among the Kiwanis nations. About one in every 200 Icelanders is a Kiwanian, compared with about one in every 1,000 Americans.

THIS WEEK:
   Your fearless leader was MIA – the call of the wild was just too strong.  He’s hunting until Sunday.  You have to love dedication to a cause …
     Our meeting was fairly well attended in spite of the cold weather.
     Thanks to Leslie Thibodeaux for purchasing our gift basket to be donated at Mid Winter this Saturday.  Those of you who would like to go, even if you didn’t pre-register, I will have a check to pay your registration at the door.  Please call me so that I can know who is coming.  380-4300.  The location is the fire training center in Lafayette at 300 N. Dugas Road.  Those who have already said they were going are:  Annie Durand, Peggy Hardy, Margaret Richard, Marti Harrell, Judy Bonhomme, Gerry LeBlanc and possibly Carol Lagarde.  Any other takers?
     This is January and the time of year when Pepper Festival plans are made.  No one has volunteered to be Pepper Chair yet.  If you would like to be part of a committee to chair the Pepper Festival, please let Dennis know.  You may feel that being the chair is too great a responsibility, so perhaps a committee of chairs would be easier.  Let’s talk about it at our board meeting at the beginning of February.
     Our guest speaker this week was our own Kiwanian, Judge Paul deMahy.  He gave a very interesting presentation on the workings of Drug Court in St. Martin Parish.  Thank you, Paul, for stepping up and giving us a very informative talk.
     If you have something interesting to share with the rest of us, please call Dennis to let him know that you’d like to speak at one of our meetings.
     Please make Kiwanis a priority during this new year and also share Kiwanis with a friend.
