THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

Do not complain about growing older—
             many are denied the privilege.
                  –Robert Russell

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis:  To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Kiwanis Education #39: The International Council consists of the International Board of Trustees, the Past International Presidents, the President of the European Federation, Kiwanis Asia-Pacific Chairman, and the district governors. The Council can enact or amend International Bylaws by a two-thirds vote. Such amendments remain in force unless rescinded at the following International convention.

THIS WEEK:
Our meeting was kind of sparse – I hope people are not giving up Kiwanis for Lent!  Our guest speaker  was Christie Hebert LeBoeuf who explained her painting techniques and her approach to art lessons which she will be having for adults and youth.  If you are interested, you can contact Christie at Christie.Hebert@yahoo.com or 337/230-1966 for more information.

Don’t forget that next Wednesday will be our evening meeting/board meeting.  This is when we take care of the business of the club.  If you have any business to bring before the board, please contact President Dennis so that he can put your item on the agenda.  394-2579.

Election of officers is fast approaching.  Be thinking about whom you would like to see at the helm of your Kiwanis ship.  Does the ocean metaphor remind you that next year Kiwanis District convention will be at sea?  Does it make you want to dust off your passport or apply for one?  Well, even if it doesn’t, hopefully, it makes you think about Kiwanis and the need for people to be willing to lead our club next year.

Speaking of officers, our St. Martinville High School Key Club elected officers at their meeting last week.  We should be announcing their names real soon.

I’m sure Annie and Ed Durand would welcome donations to the St. Francis Diner, you know, beans, rice, etc.?  I know that I forget that they conduct this ongoing project to feed the hungry.  Lent is such a good time for us to help with this.  Bring some STUFF!  Thanks!

Again, our sympathy goes out to Gloria Polite
on the recent loss of her husband, Aaron Polite.
