Kiwanis Education #28:
The creation of districts is authorized by Section VI of the International Constitution. The International Board creates and supervises districts and establishes their boundaries. The district governor is the chief executive officer of a district and also an officer of Kiwanis International. Districts are organized into divisions, and the chief executive of each division is the lieutenant governor.

THIS WEEK:

Hello, fellow Kiwanians!

Marti here... Gerry's on vacation and I'm trying to fill her shoes and put this together!  YIKES!!

For our second "First Wednesday Board/Weekly Meeting", an even dozen members took a break from holiday errands and gathered to take care of club business; they included Dennis, Peggy H., Jean, Annie, Elaine, Larry, Ben, Margo, Judy, Steve, Peggy D. and Marti.

Here are the announcements and business of the meeting:

--There will be NO MORNING MEETING next week (December 10) since we will be gathering in the evening for the annual Foster Families Christmas Party.  Set up, decorating and cooking volunteers are needed as early as 4pm at the Alexander Sterling Rec Building.  The kids and families will be arriving at 6pm, Santa shortly after...so we need to be ready! Anyone who can help out early, please do... and if you can't come early, come when you can.  Help is also needed as the party winds-down as well!  FYI: the gift wrapping is mostly done (thanks ANNIE and PEGGY!), so there won't be a need for a gift-wrapping project this weekend.

--We won't be participating in this weekend's Christmas Parade, however PICTURES WITH SANTA will start at 10AM (an hour later than in years past) on Saturday; meet Carol at the Builliard complex and go from there.

--Jean presented a check for over $13,000.00 in profits from the 2008 Pepper Festival!! Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this project such a tremendous success!!  And while on the subject of the Pepper Festival, President Dennis asks if you were the chair or co-chair of any festival sub-committee, please jot down as much as you can remember of what you did (an informal outline or notes are fine) and any ideas that you can pass along for next year's committee chair.

--We received the banner patch from the LA MS WTN District Foundation for our annual contribution.

--The Builders Club Pizza Party has been planned for Friday, December 19th, time to be decided.

--The Board also approved a $100.00 donation to the New Start Center to purchase Christmas food baskets for mothers and children in domestic crisis.

The next regular morning meeting will be on December 17th.
