THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

Freedom itself was attacked this morning
             by a faceless coward
             and freedom will be defended.”
                            -- President Bush, Sept. 11, 2001

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis:  To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Kiwanis Education #17: The Kiwanis International Board of Trustees has 20 members including the Executive director. These include the President, Immediate Past President, President-Elect, Vice-President, Treasurer, and 14 Trustees. The officers serve for one-year terms, and each year a group of Trustees are elected to three-year terms. An additional nonvoting officer, the International Executive Director, is appointed by the Board and is the only salaried officer.

THIS WEEK:  This week, last week, same old song … different verse.  As I write this, the court has been cancelled and the courthouse closed Friday in preparation for Ike.  Keep yourselves safe and we’ll have a real bulletin when this S # @ % is over!

As we understand (we haven’t heard any different) our Kiwanis family fared pretty well during Gustav.  Let’s hope Ike stays far away.

Our sympathy to Margaret Richard on the loss of her sister, Rachel Norman.

Judge Landry was guest speaker this week and her topic was “Choices” a mentoring program geared to 8th graders.  Looks like something we may be able to get involved in.
