The Fourth Object of Kiwanis: To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship. Kiwanis Education #52: Any member is entitled to receive a perfect attendance tab for each period of 12 consecutive months during which the member achieved a perfect attendance record. The 12-month period does not need to coincide with the calendar year or Kiwanis administrative year. Neither Kiwanis International nor the districts maintain individual attendance records; this is a responsibility of the local club. This Week: Another year in the can! The archival can, that is. Congratulations to Elaine St. Julien and her team for a great year in Kiwanis. Their names are listed on your previous bulletins. Jean has big shoes to fill but fill them she will (and probably be dancing in them as well). If you have not had an opportunity to sign up for committee assignments, it is not too late. Jean is taking names! Congratulations also to the new leadership team who were installed at the banquet Wednesday night. Their names are listed in the left column. If you missed the banquet, so sorry for you because it was a wonderful, fun filled evening at Clambeaugh’s topped off with delicious food. Thanks, Audrey. It was really great seeing our founding president, Janel Tate, at the banquet along with her husband, Dwight. Thanks, Leslie, for bringing them to the banquet. Special kudos to those who brought wonderful baskets for people to bid on, and many thanks to all of you who supported the silent auction by purchasing tickets. Preliminary financial reports from Peggy indicates that the basket auction netted almost $400. If you missed the countless opportunities to become a Millionaire in Kiwanis this past year, you are in luck. Jean has kicked off her Millionaire Club and you are invited to become a member. All you have to do is get involved in Kiwanis. Your first opportunity is this Saturday at the Highway Clean Up project spearheaded by Larry Roy. Just show up at the Armory Hall at 8:00 a.m. for an hour of healthy exercise and then a wonderful breakfast at Larry and Sarah’s house. And the upcoming Pepper Festival on October 21 is a great opportunity to get lots of ‘bucks’. Larry Roy and Jean Potier are both willing to give you a job to earn money. This is our ‘real’ money project and we will need everyone to help with the festival in order for us to successfully run the projects that reach out to the children in our community. Remember, this is the reason that we do what we do – for the kids! |
