THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
To Look is one thing.
To See what you look at is another.
To Understand what you see is a third.
To Learn from what you understand is still something else.
But to Act on what you learn is all that really matters.  -Anonymous

The Second Object of Kiwanis:  To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.

Kiwanis Education #58:
The organization date, when a new club meets officially to elect officers and adopt its bylaws, is the official birth date of a Kiwanis club and is celebrated as the anniversary in future years. The charter presentation is conducted a few weeks later, allowing adequate time to plan the event. All members elected before the charter date are considered charter members.

This Week:  A little known fact about some of our members was revealed during the program this week presented by Jean Potier – SOME OF US ARE OLDER THAN DIRT – according to her history exam that members present were asked to complete.  Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, the truth is that some of us can be looked to for sage advice when it comes to matters of historical proportion.  Those of us who know how matters were settled on the playground between kids; those of us who know how ladies made up for the shortage of stockings during WWII; those of us who know where the dimmer switches on cars were located; and those of us who know which car looked the same from the front and the back.  Our knowledge is POWER!  Sorry if you missed it.  It was fun.

We had honored guests at our meeting – Builders Club President Lana Fuselier and Vice President Kimber Chataignier were in attendance along with their advisor, member Edna Landry.  Edna also brought her son, Jeff with her.

Gerry announced that Key Club Week will be celebrated next week by our St. Martinville club with activities such as attendance at Kiwanis meeting on Wednesday, clean sweep of campus litter during the week and culminating with the Pizza Party on Friday.  If you would like to interclub with the Key Club and help with the Pizza Party, this will be on Friday at approximately 11:15 at SMSH.

HAVE YOU SIGNED UP FOR A KIWANIS COMMITTEE?  Would you like to?  Don’t know how or which committee?  Want some help with that?  Call 394-9734 for a good time!  Oops, wrong saying – no, right saying!  Everything you do in Kiwanis is a GOOD TIME
