THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
For this new morning with its light,  Father, we thank you.
For rest and shelter of the night, Father, we thank you.
For health and food, for love and friends, For everything your goodness sends,
Father, in heaven, we thank you.     - Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Fourth Object of Kiwanis:  To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.

Kiwanis Education #60:
Kiwanis was defined as “an organization for men” in the constitution adopted at the Denver Constitutional Convention in 1924. In 1987, after more than a decade of debate throughout the organization, delegates at the convention in Washington, DC, voted overwhelmingly to eliminate gender as a membership requirement. Today, about 18 percent of worldwide Kiwanis membership is female and about 29 percent of all new members are women.

This Week:
Guest speaker this week was Bronson Breaux of Sure Fit Health Center in Breaux Bridge.  Bronson gave us some eye-opening statistics about how unhealthy Louisiana really is.  Okay, guys, get up off the couch and move!  And lets get our kids and grandkids moving, too.

Another guest at our meeting was Eva Abate of the Southwest Contraband Club in Lake Charles.  Eva asked for our cooperation and involvement with the Children’s Miracle Network Radio-thon that is spearheaded by their club.  This takes place 3 days in January – January 25 being Kiwanis Day of the radio-thon.

November birthdays were celebrated at the meeting this week.  Unfortunately, none of our celebrants were at the meeting to hear our lovely singing and well wishes.

A big thanks to those who assisted with Key Club Week Pizza Party and participated in the interclub with our sponsored youth.

Carol Lagarde is collecting coats for New Start Center.  Call her and she’ll pick up your contributions.  Gerry LeBlanc is collecting journals for K-Bar-B ranch – these may be obtained at dollar stores or CVS.

Board voted to donate $ to New Start Center and to SMSH Cheerleaders.

We’re in the money, we’re in the money!  Yea!  Pepper Festival netted over $9,000.00 this year.  Many thanks to Larry Roy and Jean Potier for their untiring efforts toward this worthwhile project.  And that goes to all of you who pitched in and worked so hard, too.

Best Wishes to everyone for a wonderful Thanksgiving!
