The First Object of Kiwanis:  To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life.

Kiwanis Education #05:  Kiwanis International conventions began when the Kiwanis Club of Cleveland invited representatives of other clubs to meet there in May 1916. At that time there were a total of 16 clubs with 1,924 members. A Kiwanis International convention has been conducted every year since then, except for limited conferences in 1943-45 due to wartime travel restrictions. Today, the usual attendance at an International convention is about 12,000.

THIS WEEK:  We stepped out of the box (as Steve Comeaux would encourage us to do) and held our meeting at the Louisiana System Built Homes (LASBH).  We met in the rear of the building and toured the sales office which is one of the homes offered by LASBH.  This home was fancied up a bit with high ceilings and a few other luxury items.  Then we drove to the home displayed in the front of the building and toured it – which is one of the standard completed homes.  Still very nice and roomy.  Many thanks to the organizers of this meeting! 

Tonight (Thursday) a Pepper Festival Committee Meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m. and Board Meeting beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Steve Comeaux’s Photography Studio on New Market Street.  Please make an effort to attend.  I know LSU is playing baseball tonight but it has been my experience that you shouldn’t watch until the 8^th or 9^th inning anyway, so come to the meeting first! 

I’m sorry that our bulletin is going out before we can give you a report on the PF committee and the board meeting but logistics prevent us from waiting until Friday to get it out to you.

Some of you don’t usually read your bulletin on our website and I just want to tell you how great a job Marti is doing with the whole thing.  Please find a computer with internet connection and go to our website and check it out www.stmartinkiwanis.org  You’re in for a real treat.  Thanks Marti and Peggy for all of your efforts in getting the word out to our members!  WE APPRECIATE YOU!!!!!
