THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
    Knowing without doing
     is like plowing without sowing.
            - Farmer’s Almanac, 1989

The Fifth Object of Kiwanis:  To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.

Kiwanis Education:  The first Kiwanis headquarters, a two-room office, was opened in Chicago in 1918. Kiwanis continued to rent larger and larger offices in the “Windy City” until 1957, when the first Kiwanis International building was dedicated. This building served Kiwanis for 25 years but was eventually outgrown. In 1982 the sale of this valuable property allowed construction of a larger building in Indianapolis. a site with lower costs and greater convenience than downtown Chicago.

THIS WEEK:
Small attendance – great speaker!  So sorry you missed out on Chris Jacques, chef of La Maison, the hottest new spot in town.  After Chris’ presentation, I came away with the impression that La Maison will succeed because Chris has a great head on his shoulders, not to mention great skill as a chef.  If you have not had the pleasure of eating at La Maison, please treat yourself to a wonderful gastronomic experience.  Chris tells us they are open for business 7 days a week beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Four Kiwanians interclubbed with the Kiwanis Club of New Iberia this week.  In attendance were:  Gerry LeBlanc, Jean Potier, Annie Durand and Interclub Chair Leslie Thibodeaux.

This week was also the Kiwanis sponsored summer camp which benefits the ARC members with a week of volleyball.  Guy Cormier and Gerry LeBlanc were on hand for the photo op at St. Martinville Sr. High School Gym on Thursday.

PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND NEXT WEEK’S MEETING WHERE REP. FRED MILLS WILL BE OUR GUEST SPEAKER.  And you never know if he’ll bring "Taunte Pill" with him to entertain.

**Also please set aside the date and time for our potluck evening meeting at Maison de Tours where Janelle Gaye will give us a tour of the newly renovated building across from St. Martin de Tours.

On a special note:  our long distance Kiwanian, Jan Peacock, came in for the long 4th of July weekend and visited with some of her fellow Kiwanians.  We had a wonderful time and plan to see Jan again on Pepper Festival weekend!

A Note from Your Webmaster:
Well, this week's posting delay was due to a technical glitch with our web server.
    (It locked me out?)  But, Gerry and I believe everything is back in order;
therefore, unless something else rips, ravels or tears, there should be
        no further delays.
:-)
          Thanks for your patience
.
