WITH DEEPEST SYMPATHIES...
Kiwanis International President-Elect Don Canaday’s wife, Linda, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 after complications from surgery to remove a brain tumor.
Linda was a great lady and will be missed by all.
There will be a void in our Kiwanis family next year as Don and Linda
were making huge plans as they prepared for his year starting in October.
Please keep President-Elect Don and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

We are not put on this earth
       to see through each other,
but to see each other through.
                    -Anonymous

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis:  To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Kiwanis Education:  Club delegates approved in principle the establishment of Kiwanis districts at the Providence, Rhode Island, convention in 1918. The purpose of Kiwanis districts is to promote communication and interchange between clubs and assist in carrying out the administrative responsibilities of Kiwanis International. Most of the original 29 districts were organized by the end of that year.

THIS WEEK:  Taunte Pill was in the house!  So sorry if you missed our meeting – celebrities abounded.  Parish President Guy Cormier, State Representative Fred Mills, Deputy Registrar Pat Guidry, Judge Paul deMahy, Attorney Ben Breaux … oops! I got carried away.  Anyway, you catch my drift.  We had a great meeting, lively discussion, joyful birthday celebration, and all that was BEFORE the guest speaker even got up to talk to us!  Representative Mills promised to come back on August 13 for the second installment of his informative program.

It was nice to see the First Gentleman at our meeting also.  Come back often, Ben Potier!

Deputy Registrar of Voters Pat Guidry came to our meeting to distribute information concerning voter registration and dates for upcoming elections.

I got a call from our long distance Kiwanian, Jan Peacock, who underwent more surgery earlier this week.  She said everything went well and she’s looking forward to better health.  Jan, get well soon and know that we’re thinking of you!

Congrats to Kiwanian Judge Paul deMahy who is unopposed for another term!

**Don’t forget about next week’s evening meeting at Maison de Tours on Main Street (across from St. Martin de Tours Church) beginning at 6:30 p.m.  NO MORNING MEETING!!!!!
