The Fifth Object of Kiwanis: To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities. Kiwanis Education #15: Until 1962, Kiwanis clubs were limited to the United States and Canada. But club delegates to the 1961 convention in Toronto approved the extension of Kiwanis to the rest of the world. In April 1962, the Kiwanis Club of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, became the first club to be organized outside the two founding nations. Today, Kiwanis clubs are active in more than 70 nations and geographic areas. THIS WEEK:
Thank you to Dennis LeBlanc for hosting our Wednesday morning meeting in his office. The auditors were camped out in our meeting room so he set us up down the hall. Our guest speaker was MIA but we had a mini Pepper Festival meeting instead. Our special guest at the meeting was Lucas Thibodeaux, sponsored by his GiGi, Leslie. Kudos to Les for getting herself and Lucas to a 7:00 a.m. meeting! On Thursday evening,
your faithful board members met at the St. Martin Parish Library to take
care of the business of the club. Some of the business taken care of
includes: In an aside: Kiwanis is like the Marines. “We’re looking for a few good men” … and women, to join our ranks and help us impact the children of our community and our world. The joy we experience when we work on a project such as “Every Child A Swimmer” or “Foster Children Christmas Party” or “Pictures with Santa” is something worth sharing with others who care. Ask someone who cares to join forces with us. I don’t think they’ll be disappointed. |
