THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
When one door closes another door opens;
   but we so often look so long and so regretfully
      upon the closed door, that we do not see the one that is open for us.

Alexander Graham Bell

The Fourth Object of Kiwanis: To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.

Kiwanis Education #71:  The Kiwanis general liability insurance program is not accident insurance. It does not cover accidents that may occur during fund-raising and service projects when no negligence or evidence of failure to provide proper supervision is found. The insurance protects members, clubs, districts, and Kiwanis International against legal liability, which generally accrues from a negligent act or failure to act, resulting in bodily injury to a person or damage to property.

THIS WEEK:  Even if you can’t make any meetings, even if you can’t participate in many things, you are still a Kiwanian!  That said, please try to assist in one of our upcoming projects – Kiwanis One Day and Highway Clean Up.  Both are events that make a difference for our community!

The Kiwanis One Day Project
will be Saturday, April 5 at 8:30 a.m.
at Magnolia Park – this project should take
 only 1-1/2 hours maximum time.
Please start your day off with us!

    On April 12, Larry Roy will again be chairing the semi-annual Highway Cleanup beginning at Armory Hall – 8:00 a.m.  Please support our stretch of highway by coming out and cleaning up the area.

President Elect Dennis is gathering his slate of officers and board members for the election of officers and annual meeting which will be held later this month.

Our guest speaker this week was Daisy Trimble with CommCare Corporation.  CommCare is a non-profit corporation whose primary goals are to provide support services to our elderly.  Daisy’s talk was very informative and helped us become aware of the benefits CommCare provides.
Steve Comeaux won the opportunity to play for big bucks but only won his dollar back.  There were brags around the table and we were happy to see Ms. Dinky at the meeting.

Last week I got an email from Kiwanian Carla Jean Batiste and thought I would share it with you.  “Just wanted you to know that I am a mother. We have received a 1 year old daughter (Amirie) through OCS.  We should be able to complete the adoption within 6 months.  My life as I once knew it is over but I am starting a new one.” Congrats to Carla and Harold!!!!
