THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK: In matters of principle, stand like a rock, in matters of taste, swim with the current. – Thomas Jefferson |

The Sixth Object of Kiwanis: To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill. Kiwanis Education #48: All active, privileged, and senior members of a club who are in good standing are entitled to vote on proposed amendments to club bylaws, the election of club officers, directors, and delegates to conventions, and any proposal that would constitute an assessment of members in addition to the annual dues. This Week: No guests today…..Steve tried for the Red stone and did not win. Better luck next time. I know some of you will be extremely happy that this is the last time you will see this note in the bulletin this year. The last date to earn bucks for ‘06-‘07 Kiwanis year will be September 12, 2007. Jean is asking people to volunteer for committees and projects for the coming year, so if you are not able to attend the meetings but want to put your name on the committee list, please contact Jean at jpotier@cox.net or call her (if you can catch her home) at 394-9734. Advance orders for Pepper Festival shirts are available. Please contact Mary or Gerry if you would like to order tee shirts, etc. Jean is organizing a garage sale for September 15th. If you would like to contribute anything or help in any way, contact her @394-9734. Please pre-price your items. You will need to call her to set up a time to drop off items. (We understand that all proceeds will be donated to our administrative fund – so be generous with your time and treasures.) Program: Our program this week was entitled “Wrap up Loose Ends” with moderator being Jean Potier. Much discussion and explanation of things that needed to be cleared up before Pepper Festival and talk about Poker Run which is being changed to Free Ride, and garage sale which will benefit our administrative fund, and theme baskets for Installation Banquet as opposed to individual silent auction items … If any of these ‘loose ends’ is something you’d like more information about, please contact Jean, Gerry, Elaine, Steve. Speaking of Installation Banquet, you will be receiving an invitation under separate cover, containing two banquet tickets. We are asking each member to purchase at least one of their tickets to the banquet, even if you cannot attend. It is a fundraiser for our club and your financial support is always appreciated. Of course, we’d rather have you attend so that we may socialize with you and catch up on what’s going on in your busy world. The evening at Clambeaugh’s newly spruced up restaurant promises to be a fun time for all in attendance. |
