The Third Object of Kiwanis:  To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.

Kiwanis Education #51: Perfect attendance is defined as an earned attendance credit for each week during a period of 12 consecutive months. Credits can be earned by attending your regular club meeting or the meeting of another Kiwanis club, participating in a club project, attending a regular meeting of your club’s board of directors, attending a Circle K, Key Club, or Builders Club, K-Kids, or Aktion Club meeting, and other ways. Credits for non-meeting activities, such as projects, usually are limited to one credit per month for each type of activity. The club secretary’s guidebook has a complete set of Official Attendance Rules.

This Week:

--Marti, working from memory, covering for Gerry and Peggy with this week's meeting notes.

Welcome Edna Landry, who was inducted as our newest member!  Ms. Edna is the campus advisor for the Builders Club at Trinity Catholic School and the swimming coordinator for our annual "Every Child a Swimmer" program.

The annual installation banquet is next Wednesday evening (October 3.)  Deadline to purchase tickets (for the dinner head count) is Monday, October 1.  Dress is "very casual" and the theme this year is "The Poor Man's Meal."
Please let Jean or Gerry know if you will be attending if you have not already turned in your money/tickets, etc.  Don't forget: NO MORNING MEETING NEXT WEEK.

Also, be working on your themed gift basket for donation to the "Administrative Raffle."  We hope to have at least 8-10 fun baskets for you to take a chance on winning!  (...and don't worry, gentlemen, there will be something there for you, too!!)

There was no lottery this week.

Ms. Edna announced that the Trinity Catholic School Builders Club will be installing their new officers at their regular meeting on Friday, October 12 at 1pm.  All Kiwanians are invited and encouraged to attend.

The minutes of the joint board meeting were shared with the club and it was announced that Dennis LeBlanc has agreed to serve as President-Elect for 2007-08.  (Jean and the entire club thank you for stepping up, Dennis!)  ...and Peggy Decou was elected to fill Dennis' seat on the Board of Directors.

Sign up sheets for greeter/speaker getter and prayer leader volunteers were passed around.  President-Designate Jean will be awarding Kiwanis Bucks to those who participate in all three areas!

Program:
Jim Robb introduced his guest and speaker, Will Chapman.  Will is the publisher of the Daily Iberian newspaper.  Will brought us up to speed on his career at the publication and the newspaper's contributions to the communities it serves.
