THE SIXTH
OBJECT OF KIWANIS:
To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public
opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of
righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.
KIWANIS EDUCATION
#37:
Kiwanis International’s continuing service focus is called “Young
Children: Priority One.” The Priority One Advisory Council is a group of
more
than 30 child-related organizations that advise Kiwanis on
the Young Children: Priority One program and offer local partners to clubs
for collaborative projects. Every Kiwanis club is urged to conduct at
least one major Young Children: Priority One project each year.
THIS WEEK:
There were two guests this morning’s meeting. Danica Adams, speaker for
the day, and daughter of Margot Addison; and sweet little “Dinky”, who
had not been with us for quite a while. We were happy to welcome them
both.
Steve won the chance at lottery but he only got his dollar back.
Jean informed us that we are listed in the Louisiana Association
of Fairs and Festivals booklet.
Elaine offered members a chance to beef up their “Kiwanis Bucks”
with several incentives. Speaker getter and greeter through June will
receive double bucks; bringing in a new member through July will also get
you double bucks. If members can recite, in writing, the Kiwanis
defining statement at orientation on May 30, more bucks will be theirs.
Edna Landry has informed us that the Training day for volunteers will be
on May 16th. We are responsible for providing lunch for the
participants.
Christine thanked all who attended the City Council meeting to
promote the Every Child A Swimmer program. Please call Christine to
assist with this project @ 394-5264.
