THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK: "It is better to give than receive."

THIS WEEK:  Our meeting was lively with two prospective members in attendance.  Peggy Decou brought her father, Mr. Trosclair, to the meeting and Gerry brought Lasenda Barrois (a transplant from New Orleans).  We have it on good information that both are ready to sign on the dotted line!
Bragging was all about Spring and new life!  Paul deMahy has a new grandson, Andrew deMahy, son of Jenni and Jamie deMahy, weighing in at 6 pounds, nine ounces.  Carol Lagarde is going to have a new grandchild, Peter and Colleen Lagarde are expecting in December.  Larry Roy bragged on those who participated in highway cleanup last Saturday, picking up over 35 bags of trash!  Margaret Richard lauded Kiwanis for New Start ditty bags.  She is asking for Easter candy for approx. 35 children.  (Pre-made baskets are welcomed.)
If you’d like to participate, please bring candy or baskets to the Wednesday meeting or call Margaret at 394-6980 if you cannot attend the meeting but would like to contribute.

Larry Roy had important education for all of us from the wise lips of Mother Theresa:  “I slept and I dreamed that life is all joy.  I woke and I saw that life is all service.  I served and I saw that service is joy.”
Those planning to attend Intl. Convention in San Antonio or Dist. Convention in New Orleans, please contact Gerry 394-2216 or 380-4300.
Marti announced that we had a technical glitch on the website but it has been resolved.  Please visit our website and let Marti know how much you like it!
Please make note of Every Child a Swimmer dates so that hopefully you can give Christine and the project a day of your time.  It is always awesome to participate in this program and see the joy and excitement on the faces of the kids as they become more comfortable and accomplished in the water.  Kudos again to Christine for spearheading this awesome project!

IMPORTANT PLEA – We have not reached our goal. We are still in need of toothbrushes and toothpaste for the Goree Island project.  The delegates are leaving next week.  If you are able to contribute, please contact Carol for drop off info.  394-9809 or 519-2257.

TODAY'S PROGRAM: Hon. Thomas Nelson, Mayor of St. Martinville was our guest speaker this week.  His topics of discussion were: increasing revenues of city; enforcing laws; recreation; police department and he also fielded questions from the members.
