THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK: The trouble with most of us is that we would rather be ruined by praise than saved by criticism. – Rev. Norman Vincent Peale | |

THIS WEEK'S OBJECT OF KIWANIS: To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
KIWANIS EDUCATION: Key
Club International is Kiwanis’ oldest continuing youth-service program.
The first Key Club “for key boys” was organized by the Kiwanis Club of
Sacramento, California, in 1925. The concept of a service club for high
school students spread to other Kiwanis clubs, and Key Club became an
official program of Kiwanis International by 1942. Today, more than
200,000 young men and women belong to Key Clubs in more than 4,500 high
schools throughout the US, Canada, and a growing number of other nations.
Key Club International is run largely by its members, who conduct
conventions and elect officers each year at the district and International
levels. THIS WEEK: Guest and speaker for the meeting was Mike Fuselier, City Councilman. Larry gave the object….#1 again. He seems to be stuck on #1. Jean had a chance for the lottery, and won her dollar back. Since there was no newsletter for February 28th meeting, I would like to report that Peggy Decou won the lottery to the tune of $51.50. Congratulations to her. Projects/Ways & Means: 1.) Larry reported that Leslie Thibodeaux has accepted the job of chairman of Publicity for the Pepper Festival. Our thanks to her for stepping up to the plate and taking on this key job for our extremely important fund-raiser. 2.) Christine is in the preliminary stages of setting the date for Every Child a Swimmer. There are questions of exactly when the final days of school for the Kindergarten Kiddies, thus the actual date is still up in the air. She will let us know more information as it becomes available. 3.) Bertha reported on the Kiwanis One Day project of beautifying the flower beds at the entrances of town. We will be purchasing some plants and Gerry has asked that anyone who wishes to help on this project, contact her this week @ 394-2216/380-4300 or 394-9396. 4.) We are asking each member to donate 10 toothbrushes and 10 small toothpastes for the Goree Island Project. (We need packets for 400 children.) TODAY'S PROGRAM: : Mike Fuselier, representing St. Martin Soccer League which has been in existence for 13 years, thanked the Kiwanis Club for supporting their organization in the past and hopes for continued support. He showed a video of still photos of all the soccer teams and many of our members were able to identify their young relatives. This is a wonderful way for our youngsters to get the exercise they need. He presented us with a large umbrella with their logo and Jean is holding it to give to President Elaine, who was absent for this meeting.
