Thought /Quote  for the Week:    Greatness is not found in possessions, power, position or prestige. It is discovered in goodness, humility, service and character. –William Arthur Ward

The Third Object of Kiwanis: To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.

Kiwanis Education #28:  The creation of districts is authorized by Section VI of the International Constitution. The International Board creates and supervises districts and establishes their boundaries. The district governor is the chief executive officer of a district and also an officer of Kiwanis International. Districts are organized into divisions, and the chief executive of each division is the lieutenant governor.

This Week:  Guests this week were, Ed Durand and our Guest Speaker Michael Cooper.  Melba had her number picked for the lottery and won her $ back.  It seems as though the last one to arrive gets the chance more times than not.

A Kiwanis Family Brunch will be held to celebrate the 92nd Anniversary of Kiwanis on January 21, 2007, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Sterling Alexander Building.  The cost is $5 per person.  Please, please try to attend and bring family members.  The more the merrier.

There were two Millionaires announced today:  Jean and Gerry.  They received a mug and will have their names placed in “the hat” for a drawing at the end of the year.  How far away are you from a million?

Carol, Bertha and Raephelle got together Monday night to make Ditty Bags for the NewStart Center.  Following is a list of items that are needed to make more bags:  coloring books, deodorant, toothpaste, playing cards, prayer cards, razors, mouthwash, Wet Ones, infant socks, women’s footies.

Key Club Notes:  The Key Club is having a Jambalaya dinner on January 20th .  If you would like to purchase a ticket to help them, please contact Kevin @ 394-3135 or Gerry @ 394-2216.  Tickets are $4 each.

TODAY'S PROGRAM: Michael Cooper addressed the club on acupuncture.  He is a recent graduate of the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and is setting up practice in South Louisiana.  Michael spoke about the long history of acupuncture in China, with an emphasis on holistic treatment of the body.  With needles, herbs, oils and consultation, an acupuncturist treats the whole body, from high blood pressure to sore ankles, back pain to macular degeneration, drug addiction to headaches, arthritis to road rage.   The club responded well, with involved questions and Leslie Thibodeaux wanted to be his first client/patient (she was ready for a consultation right there in the meeting room.)
