THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK: Let it never be forgotten that glamour is not greatness; applause is not fame; prominence is not eminence. The man of the hour is not apt to be the man of the ages. A stone may sparkle, but that does not make it a diamond. A stone may sparkle. but that does not make it a diamond.  A man may have money, but that does not make him a sucess.  --Joseph Sizoo

THIS WEEK'S OBJECT OF KIWANISTo cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism, which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

HAPPY DOLLAR HIGHLIGHTS:  Debby Dugas announced that she has leased the Petit Paris Café and encouraged us all to continue to patronize the establishment.  She’s going back into Real Estate (and the bonus for us is that she'll be making more Kiwanis meetings and projects!)  And Audrey Allen announced that she's going to be a grandmother for the first time. Congrats to both.

50/50 LOTTERY:  After a false start on the lottery drawing (sorry, Gerry), Marti's number came up, but she pulled a yellow stone.  So there was no winner this week.

DIVISION NEWS: Gerry announced that she and Marti attended the East St. Mary Kiwanis Club's Board meeting this week and Lt. Governor Elect Allyson Baird (who is on the Board of the E. St. Mary club) asked that our club consider joining with them in collecting "gently used" prom dresses so that every girl can have a memorable prom night.

THIS WEEKPresident Elaine awarded surprise bonus bucks to anyone wearing RED and "upgraded" Kiwanis bucks for attendance at the Super Bowl party.
Also, four new Kiwanis Millionaires were awarded their “Millionaire Mugs.” They are: Annie Durand, Peggy Hardy, Melba Braud and Marti Harrell.  They join Gerry LeBlanc and Jean Potier, making a total of SIX so far.
The club received a thank you letter from the Kiwanis International Foundation in appreciation of our $300.00 donation to the Annual Campaign.  We'll be receiving a new banner patch soon.
The minimum requirements for a "Distinguished Kiwanian" were handed out. If you didn’t get a copy (because it’s NOT that hard to qualify!!) check with Elaine.

TODAY'S PROGRAM: Glenda McGee, retired St. Martin parish educator and administrator, author of children's book "The Thousand Dollar Kitten"; she writes stories based on both fictional and autobiographical experiences as well as events and personalities of her students, family and friends.
