THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK: :  No person was ever honored for what he received.  Honor has been the reward for what he gave. - Calvin Coolidge

The Third Object of Kiwanis:  To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.

Kiwanis Education #44:  Senior membership is open to Kiwanians who have held active membership in one or more Kiwanis clubs for at least 10 years and no longer can meet regular attendance requirements due to health, business, or other extenuating circumstances. Senior members enjoy all the rights of membership, including serving as a club officer. However, since senior membership is granted because the member cannot meet regular attendance requirements, a senior member would not normally be a candidate for a club office.

THIS WEEK:
Welcome back, Guy Cormier, Mary Arton and bragging granny Audrey Allen!!!!!  Those of you out there who think you’ve been away from Kiwanis too long to come to a meeting, don’t feel that way.  You’ll get warm greetings, friendly smiles and even great hugs when you come to see us.
Elaine asked that everyone count their “Bucks” and advise her of your totals - especially if you’ve reached “Millionaire” status.
Jean is asking people to volunteer for committees and projects for the coming year, so if you are not able to attend the meetings but want to put your name on the committee list, please contact Jean at jpotier@cox.net or call her (if you can catch her home) at 394-9734.

**Pepper Festival/Board Meeting at Petit Paris Café tonight (Thursday).  Call Larry Roy if you plan to attend.  Cost per meal is around $8.00.  Please make every effort to get involved in the Pepper Festival committee – it is the means by which we are able to “… change the world one child and one community at a time.”
Tentative date for Tropical Party is September 15 at 321 Broussard Drive, with Dennis LeBlanc as host.  He mentioned something about hurricanes – the drinks, not the storms!!!!!  More information to follow.
Jean, Marti and Gerry were program moderators and brought to the club information and reports of business conducted at the LaMissTenn District Convention in New Orleans.   Thank you, ladies, for your information.  I believe more to come in future installments.

Are you ever asked, “What is Kiwanis?”
Well, you have the answer right at your fingertips in a concise, well versed, defining statement.  It is the one we say at every meeting and are asking all of our members to know by heart.   “KIWANIS IS A GLOBAL ORGANIZATION OF VOLUNTEERS DEDICATED TO CHANGING THE WORLD ONE CHILD AND ONE COMMUNITY AT A TIME.”
