THOUGHT/QUOTE OF THE WEEK: The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched.  They must be felt with the heart. – Hellen Keller

The Fourth Object of Kiwanis:  To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.

Kiwanis Education # 33:
There is no such thing as membership transfer from one Kiwanis club to another. After leaving a Kiwanis club, a former Kiwanian must be elected to membership in another Kiwanis club by that club’s board of directors, exactly like any new member. However, if a current member is moving to a new community, the club secretary can send a referral card to the Kiwanis club(s) in the new community, and the Kiwanian who is moving is encouraged to attend meetings of the clubs in the new area and choose one to join. He or she does not need to be sponsored by two members of the new club but can apply for membership directly.

THIS WEEK:  Our guest this week was Edna Landry, Advisor to the TCES Builders Club.  Gerry had to be out of the meeting room for a few moments and heard our singing of “God Bless America” and swelled our heads with how nice we sounded (from afar).  Someone said that maybe we should form a glee club. You just never know.  Gerry also had a chance at lottery, and won her dollar back.  Brag/complain jar was in demand this week.
We would like to give special recognition to Audrey Allen for her work on the Goreé Island toothbrush/toothpaste project and also to Margaret Richard for her attention to the New Start Center ditty bag project.  Thanks, again for unselfish giving of your time and attention to these projects.

Edna Landry asked about having a training session combined with a field trip at the pool for the Trinity Builders Club whose help in very much needed for this project.  This will be on the agenda for the Board Meeting on April 19th.

We are in need of a person to step up for the office of President-Elect.  Take your time reflecting on this subject
(but hurry). We will be voting on this on April 25th at the Annual Meeting (Regular Meeting).

**Also please note that the APRIL 25th meeting will be held at TECHE BANK at the regular time.  Please park on the side parking lot, NOT IN THE BACK.  The employees park there and will be arriving before the meeting is over.

Candidates are:  Jean Potier-President, Annie Durand-Secretary, Peggy Hardy-Treasurer, and Past President-Elaine St. Julien. Board of Directors:  Judy Bonhomme, Steve Comeaux, Carol Lagarde, Dennis LeBlanc, and Leslie Thibodeaux.  Pepper Festival Chair-Larry Roy through December 31, 2007 and Gerry LeBlanc beginning January 1, 2008.

TODAY'S PROGRAM:  Christine was our speaker today and of course spoke about Every Child a Swimmer.  It is, of course, through her efforts and research that we even have this worthwhile project in our community today.  She said that we would be losing a couple of our regular instructors, so if anyone can help in that area, please contact her. The dates are listed in Calendar of Events, and she is also in need of just “plain” helpers.  If you can spare some time, please call her @ 394-5264 to volunteer.
